Our mission is to help people remain in their homes by increasing safety and accessibility.

Operation Home Is...

Since its inception, hundreds of homes have been repaired by Operation Home, totaling in excess of $1 million. Operation Home’s mission is to help people remain in their homes by increasing safety and accessibility through the coordination of critical home repairs for low-income residents of Berkeley, Charleston, and Dorchester Counties. Operation Home receives referrals from a wide network of providers, including home health agencies, utility companies, churches, schools, disability service centers, and many other social service agencies.

Last Year We Helped…

Operation Home made 51 emergency home repairs in 2011, using donated labor on 23 of those cases. Of the 51 homes repaired, 75% of the homeowners were disabled and unable to work. To receive assistance with our emergency repairs, all homeowners must be very low income and also must either be elderly, disabled, or have at least one child in the home.

News & Events

Congratulations to Robert Calcote of Charleston. He is this year’s winner of the Scout boat raffle supporting Operation Home. Operation Home staff and Board are grateful to everyone who participated in this year’s Gimme Shelter event. Funds raised just from the boat raffle will ensure at least three of our neediest neighbors will have a repaired or replaced roof this year.

Gimme Shelter was an awesome event! Thank to all for your support. We will let you know soon the total funds raised at Gimme Shelter.
